The hottest race weekend of this Formula One (F1) season starts this Friday, October 3, at the 2025 Singapore Grand Prix. On Sunday, 20 drivers are set to race at one of F1’s most challenging circuits, racing over bumpy surfaces, through sharp turns, and in Singapore’s unrelenting heat. And throughout the weekend, racegoers will be treated to performances by G-Dragon, CL, Foo Fighters, Elton John, and The Smashing Pumpkins, who also recently had their Manila show.
This weekend, British driver Lewis Hamilton suits up for the Singapore race, quelling fans’ fears that he might not show up after enduring the loss of his dog Roscoe. Hamilton said “choosing not to be negative in the difficulty” of his loss helped him bounce back. “I’ve personally received a huge amount of support and that’s been overwhelming, and so allowing yourself to receive that, allowing yourself space to grieve, and also just remind yourself every day is going to get a bit better.”
It will be the first time Hamilton dons Ferrari red in Singapore, joining his teammate Charles Leclerc, who snagged the fifth spot in last year’s race. This week, the Monégasque driver launched the Chivas Regal Crystalgold at an exclusive bar in Singapore, as one of the whisky brand’s global ambassadors.
While Ferrari hasn’t won a race this year, Leclerc is hopeful that Singapore could turn things around, telling The Straits Times, “Personally, I’m very happy with the way I’ve performed and I’m just really looking forward to bringing Ferrari to the top and to be winning again and I hope it starts this weekend in Singapore — it’s a track that I love, it’s one of my favourite tracks of the season.”
Both he and Hamilton have promising track records, with Hamilton having won the Singapore race four times in his career and Leclerc coming close to first in many past races. However, race director Rui Marques has officially declared a “heat hazard,” which will allow drivers to use weightier cooling vests in the race. Could this be another challenge for the team, or will it finally lead them to victory? We find out on Sunday, October 5.
