Uh-oh: iPads have entered the Toy Story franchise.
Pixar and Disney have released its teaser trailer for Toy Story 5, and it looks like our favorite toys are up against a sinister, digital foe — a cheery Lilypad tablet voiced by Greta Lee (who, appropriately enough, just played an evil AI version of herself on The Morning Show).
The teaser sees several familiar faces in Bonnie’s room, including Woody (how’d he get there?) (Tom Hanks), Buzz Lightyear (Tim Allen), Jessie (Joan Cusack), and Forky (Tony Hale), along with other characters like Mr. and Mrs. Potato Head, Rex, Slinky Dog, Bullseye, and one of the Pizza Planet aliens. Although not shown in the teaser, we do know that Conan O’Brien will be joining the Toy Story universe as Smarty Pants, a toilet training tech toy.
“It’s been a hilarious and poignant journey exploring how our favorite team of legacy toys might respond to today’s world of technology, and we’re thrilled to share this first glimpse with audiences,” co-directors Andrew Stanton and Kenna Harris wrote in an official statement. “Having the remarkably talented Greta Lee bring Lilypad to life — balancing a playfully antagonistic tone with humor and heart — has been incredible.”
Toy Story 5 is set to hit American cinemas on June 19, 2026.
