Sabrina Carpenter is officially heading down the rabbit hole. The singer will star in and produce a new movie musical adaptation of Alice in Wonderland, based on Lewis Carroll’s classic children’s novel. The project marks her first major film as both lead and producer, signaling a new chapter in her career beyond pop stardom.
While plot details and the film’s official title remain under wraps, the screenplay will be written by Lorene Scafaria, known for Nick & Norah’s Infinite Playlist and Seeking a Friend for the End of the World. The combination of Carpenter’s pop sensibility and Scafaria’s sharp, character-driven writing promises a modern reimagining of Carroll’s surreal world.
Carpenter has long been open about her love for Alice in Wonderland. In a 2022 radio interview, she said Alice was among her “dream roles.” She previously partnered with Netflix in 2020 for a musical project titled Alice, which never came to fruition — making this new production full circle for her.
Fresh off six nominations for her album Man’s Best Friend, including Album, Record, and Song of the Year for “Manchild” in the 2026 Grammy Awards, Carpenter continues to expand her creative reach, this time bringing her pop-world imagination to the big screen.
