On October 14 (Philippine Standard Time), Narnia: The Magician’s Nephew unveiled its first trailer ahead of its February 12, 2027 release. Based on C.S. Lewis’s classic children’s series The Chronicles of Narnia, the film is directed by Lady Bird and Barbie director Greta Gerwig. Produced by Netflix, the film stars Daniel Craig as Uncle Andrew Ketterley, David McKenna as Digory, Beatrice Campbell as Polly, and Emma Mackey as the White Witch.

The film follows children, Digory and Polly, as they discover the otherworldly Narnia. Uncle Andrew becomes their guide, giving them a magic ring that transports them to different fantastical worlds.

At the film’s live press launch on October 13, comedian and TV host Stephen Colbert asked Gerwig about the making of the movie. Gerwig said she doesn’t remember a time when she “didn’t know the books,” because the stories of Narnia influenced her so deeply.

The Magician’s Nephew book was first published in 1955 and it serves as the official prequel to The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe, which was published in 1950. The series later received a live-action film adaptation with Narnia: The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe in 2005, followed by the sequels Prince Caspian in 2008 and The Voyage of the Dawn Treader in 2010.
