Phil Rosenthal is hungrier than ever in the upcoming season of Somebody Feed Phil, set to begin streaming on Netflix this June. With Somebody Feel Phil entering its eighth season, Rosenthal has finally set his sights — and appetite — on Manila.
Rosenthal, who created the classic ’90s sitcom Everybody Loves Raymond, has in recent years pivoted to hosting widely popular travel and food documentaries. At its heart, Somebody Feed Phil is about Rosenthal’s joyful mission to explore the world through food and share that joy with everyone watching. In this upcoming season, Rosenthal is set to take on cities such as Amsterdam, Las Vegas, Guatemala, and, delightfully, Manila. Although no specific restaurants have been announced just yet, fans of the show have been speculating about the show’s featured eateries since late last year, when Rosenthal and the show’s production team were spotted eating their way through the region.
Last October, Rosenthal was seen sipping on a pineapple drink while gazing at Taal Volcano in Tagaytay, according to a Facebook post from Taal Vista Hotel. Mark Lapid, the current COO of Tourism Infrastructure and Enterprise Zone Authority, also took to Instagram to post a selfie of him, Rosenthal, and the Department of Tourism Chief Christina Frasco. “Thank you for visiting the Philippines and appreciating our Kapampangan food,” wrote Lapid. Fans of the show also managed to take a photo with Rosenthal and his family at The Peninsula in Makati, where they were reportedly staying.
Where else did Rosenthal visit during his time in Manila? Will Toyo Eatery, currently one of the best restaurants in the country, play a part in the season? Will the charming show host make his way to the late Margarita Fores’ cozy farm-to-table restaurant, Grace Park? Fans will just have to wait for June to find out.
