Look up, Manila! David Corenswet, who plays Superman in director James Gunn’s upcoming reboot, is flying to the Philippines on June 19. He’ll be joined by Gunn, producer Peter Safran, and co-stars Rachel Brosnahan and Nicholas Hoult for a special fan event at the SM Mall of Asia Music Hall: the first stop on their global promotional tour for DC Studios’ highly anticipated film.
Gunn, best known for his work on Guardians of the Galaxy, has described Superman as a deeply personal project. “It’s about what it means to be a hero in a world that doesn’t always make it easy to be one,” he shared in the official tour announcement. The film, which marks the launch of DC Studios’ new cinematic universe, blends epic action with heartfelt storytelling and a fresh, compassionate take on the Man of Steel.
Corenswet leads a star-studded cast that includes Brosnahan as Lois Lane and Hoult as Lex Luthor, with supporting roles from Edi Gathegi, Anthony Carrigan, Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced, Skyler Gisondo, María Gabriela de Faría, and more. Superman opens in Philippine cinemas and IMAX on July 9.
The Manila fan event is expected to draw thousands of DC fans from across the country, offering a rare opportunity to see the new Superman and his creators up close. With the Philippines selected as the launch point for the world tour, the visit underscores the country’s growing importance as a passionate and influential market for blockbuster films.
