Your astrological birth chart speaks volumes, and, for the self-proclaimed cinephile, it can also point you towards your favorite movie of the year. 2025 brought with it a smorgasbord of box-office hits, indie darlings, and surprise successes that cater to every mood, temperament, and star sign.

As we wrap up the year, we thought it would be a good idea to look back and match every zodiac sign with a 2025 movie that captures their astrological essence. While we may be horoscope enthusiasts ourselves, we turned to official sources like astrology app Co – Star for help with deciding which signs aligned best with which cinematic feature. Here, for your viewing pleasure, is your cosmic viewing guide for 2025.

Aries: ‘One Battle After Another’

Birthdate: March 21 – April 19

Aries are known to be the most intense (and perhaps the most hot-headed) of the star signs. For this reason, the Aries in your life may resonate with Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another, a movie packed to the brim with anarchic groups, revolution, shoot-outs, and explosions galore. An Aries may see themselves more in Teyana Taylor’s intense Perfidia, or maybe Benicio del Toro’s determined Sergio, but definitely not Leonardo DiCaprio’s stoned-out Bob.

Taurus: ‘Materialists’

Birthdate: April 20 – May 20

A Taurus is drawn to three things: comfort, riches, and stability. Thankfully, Celine Song’s rom-com Materialists has all three of these things. The lush shots of New York City, paired with the fantasy of a wealthy, eligible bachelor as a serious contender in a love triangle, are more than enough to make a Taurus swoon. But I will contest (as a Taurus myself) that Chris Evans’ John, despite his lack of material wealth, also appeals to a Taurus’ loyal sensibilities. Tauruses are dependable and committed, and they respect both those qualities in any romantic partner, no matter how broke they may be.

Gemini: ‘Quezon’

Birthdate: May 21 – June 20

Geminis are charismatic, intelligent, and argumentative, three traits that Jericho Rosales brings to his portrayal of the titular president in Jerrold Tarog’s Quezon. Like a typical Gemini, Quezon just isn’t satisfied with his lot in life. To remedy this, he plays up his skills as a chameleon to make his way into Malacañang. But, and this is once again so Gemini of him, Quezon just can’t admit that he’s scared of failing and being alone.

Cancer: ‘Frankenstein’

Birthdate: June 21 – July 22

Cancers, always so in tune with their emotions, can resonate with the complex psychological themes of Guillermo del Toro’s Frankenstein. No, it’s not just a Gothic horror; rather, the Netflix hit touches on grief, abandonment, and the messy connection between parent and child, specifically father and son in the case of del Toro’s adaptation. Cancers have many thoughts and moods, and they’d instinctively empathize with the emotional weight carried by The Creature (Jacob Elordi).

Leo: ‘Sinners’

Birthdate: July 23 – August 22

Ryan Coogler’s Sinners brings a lively, chaotic party, and it’s definitely a scene that Leos can resonate with. As bold, ambitious performers, Leos aim to captivate, and so they’d quickly identify with the twins Smoke and Stack’s (Michael B. Jordan) enterprising quest to start a juke joint of their own. Even when the party takes a sharp, bloody turn, Leos are sure to stick around to see if they can still vibe.

Virgo: ‘Magellan’

Birthdate: August 23 – September 22

Virgos are textbook perfectionists, so a Lav Diaz feature is right up their alley. Magellan, the acclaimed filmmaker’s latest foray into historical epics, would keep a Virgo glued to the screen with its vivid cinematography and measured acting from leading man Gael García Bernal. What’s more, the epic’s play on historical accounts is sure to appeal to a Virgo’s intellectual curiosity.

Libra: ‘Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere’

Birthdate: September 23 – October 22

A Libra loves to exist in the in-between: extrovert and introvert, direct and avoidant, loud and soft. Scott Cooper’s biopic, Springsteen: Deliver Me From Nowhere, presents us with a hero who also walks in that liminal space: Bruce Springsteen, played by Jeremy Allen White. White’s portrayal of the American singer sees him adrift in his life and his career, unable to move forward while his past still clings to him. Libras find that aloofness enthralling, and they’re happy to listen to a few classic Springsteen tracks, too.

Scorpio: ‘Wake Up Dead Man: A Knives Out Mystery’

Birthdate: October 23 – November 21

Complexity is important to Scorpios because, as the viral astrology app Co-Star describes them, they are “psychological trap doors.” Because of this, Scorpios are only put at ease with an equally complicated narrative, making Rian Johnson’s latest whodunnit a perfect watch for them. Scorpios will find themselves lost in Detective Benoit Blanc’s (Daniel Craig) convoluted monologues, Father Jud’s (Josh O’Connor) contemplative thoughts on God, and the thrill of a killer on the loose.

Sagittarius: ‘Bloom Where You Are Planted’

Birthdate: November 22 – December 21

Sagittariuses tend to have a thirst for empirical knowledge, and a gripping documentary like Noni Abao’s Bloom Where You Are Planted feeds that curiosity. Its stories of land rights activists up against nefarious forces make it an essential watch for Sagittariuses eager to explore the real-world struggles around them. What’s more, they’ll appreciate the film’s immersive cinematography and a storyline so rarely spotlighted on the silver screen.

Capricorn: ‘No Other Choice’

Birthdate: December 22 – January 19

While I’m not saying that Capricorns would necessarily go to extreme lengths to secure employment (like Lee Byung-hun’s Mr. Yoo does in No Other Choice), they certainly have the discipline and nerve if they ever choose to do so. Park Chan-wook’s latest dark comedy explores how far a workaholic would go to get his old life back, and Capricorns may or may not admire Mr. Yoo’s cunning, persistence, and methodical ambition on display.

Aquarius: ‘Weapons’

Birthdate: January 20 – February 18

Outcast narratives are a delight for many Aquariuses, and Zach Cregger’s Weapons is definitely full of them. Some of them are harmless, like Julia Garner’s alcoholic middle school teacher Justine, while others are just a little more evil, like Amy Madigan’s Aunt Gladys. Acquariuses love a good, weird time, and Weapons more than delivers.

Pisces: ‘Open Endings’

Birthdate: February 19 – March 20

Boundaries are pretty much non-existent for the romantic Pisces, and so they wouldn’t bat an eye at the exes-turned-best-friends group of Nigel Santos’ Open Endings. The rom-com’s sapphic love story, mixed with its tender moments of friendship and grief, mirrors the emotional depth and yearning that a Pisces often finds themselves feeling.
