On August 26, Marvel announced the return of the Avengers to Philippine cinemas with Avengers Endgame: Encore. The re-release is set to premiere on September 23, serving as the lead-up to Avengers: Doomsday, showing on December 18. The select Philippine cinemas where the re-release will be available will be announced soon.
According to the film’s co-director Joe Russo last April at the Sands Film Festival in Scotland, new scenes will include “footage that is set in the Doomsday story.”
“It’s an opportunity to create a bridge from Endgame to Doomsday in a very unique way,” Russo said. He also described the re-release as a “critical companion story.” However, no details of the footage have been revealed.
In an article published by Deadline in June, Disney announced that the re-release will not just include additional new footage, but also a custom introduction and a special tag exclusive to Infinity Vision and IMAX releases of the film.
Avengers: Endgame is currently the second-highest-grossing film of all time with over $2.7 billion worldwide, behind James Cameron’s 2009 sci-fi epic Avatar with over $2.9 billion earnings in total.
