On January 22, the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences announced the nominations in all 24 categories for the Oscars.
The live presentation of the nominations took place at the Academy’s Samuel Goldwyn Theater in Los Angeles. They were announced by Lewis Pullman and Oscar-nominated actress Danielle Brooks .
Sinners made history by scoring a record-breaking 16 nominations, including for Best Picture, Director, Original Screenplay, and Actor. This surpasses the record of 14 nominations previously granted to Titanic and La La Land.
Earlier this year, the Academy announced that 317 films had been eligible for the awards, with 201 of those films eligible for consideration in the Best Picture category.
