What happens when a newly minted Michelin chef travels back in time to Korea’s Joseon dynasty? In Bon Appétit, Your Majesty, the latest hit Netflix K-drama, her time-traveling antics lead her to meeting a handsome, angsty king-slash-tyrant and cooking for him to survive (and win his heart).
The show, which released its first episode on the streaming platform on August 23, stars Lim Yoon-a as Ji-young, a chef from 2025 who accidentally gets transported back in time after reaching the peak of her culinary career. Ji-young falls straight into the world of King Lee Heon, played by Lee Chae-min, and proceeds to beguile him by preparing modern-day dishes.
Bon Appétit, Your Majesty has yet to release its season finale, but it has already ascended to the top spot on the Global Netflix Non-English TV chart this week. The show has consistently ranked among the top of Netflix’s Global Top 10 in multiple territories, such as the Philippines, Singapore, and Japan, reaching 6.8 million views worldwide after its fourth episode aired.
“Thank you so much for the love you’ve shown Bon Appétit, Your Majesty,” Lim said in an official statement announcing the show’s No. 1 spot on the Netflix chart. “There are plenty more thrilling and heart-fluttering moments ahead, so please keep watching as Ji-young cooks her way through every challenge.”
“I hope you’ll look forward to how Heon’s story unfolds as he slowly opens his heart to his chef, Ji-young,” said Lee in the same statement.
