Another Addams has entered the building.
After the last season of Wednesday spent a considerable amount of time teasing Morticia Addams’ clairvoyant sister and her alleged disappearance, we can finally put a face to the mysterious character. Netflix just dropped a teaser for the hit series’s third season, and Eva Green is stepping into the role of Ophelia Addams.
The teaser doesn’t reveal much, except for a quick look at the back of Ophelia’s head. Wearing a flower crown atop her disheveled blonde hair, Ophelia scrawls the words “Wednesday Must Die” on the wall (in what I hope is just red paint).
“I’m thrilled to join the woefully twisted world of Wednesday as Aunt Ophelia,” said Green in an official statement announcing her role. “This show is such a deliciously dark and witty world. I can’t wait to bring my own touch of cuckooness to the Addams family.”
This marks yet another collaboration between Green and Wednesday director and executive producer Tim Burton. The two have worked together previously on multiple projects, such as the dark comedy Dark Shadows, the fantasy Miss Peregrine’s Home for Peculiar Children, and the live-action remake of Dumbo.
Wednesday, which stars Jenna Ortega as its brooding, unblinking titular character, is Netflix’s most-viewed English-language series globally of all time. Its first season has brought in over 252 million views for the streaming platform, ranking as Netflix’s most-watched season. Its second season ranks in fourth place with over 118 million views.
As of writing, Netflix has not announced an expected release date for Wednesday Season 3.
