Attention, Filipino drag fans: Minty Fresh is strutting her way into RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World.
“People of the world, the future is fresh,” said the Filipino drag queen in the series’ promotional episode introducing all ten contestants from across the world.
They will be competing for the cash prize of €50,000 and the coveted title of Queen of the Mothertucking World. While the full episode, streaming on BBC iPlayer, is currently unavailable in the Philippines, a compilation of the queens’ introductions can be found on WOW Presents Plus’ YouTube channel.
Minty Fresh first competed on the inaugural season of Drag Race Philippines, where she finished in fifth place to winner Precious Paula Nicole.
On this season of Drag Race UK vs The World, Minty Fresh will go toe-to-toe with the likes of Fontana (Drag Race Sverige Season 1 first runner-up), Gawdland (Drag Race Thailand Season 3 third runner-up), and Kate Butch (RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 5 fifth place).
But Minty Fresh isn’t the only Filipino queen in the cast. We’ll also be seeing Filipino-Canadian queen Melinda Verga, who also finished her season of Canada Drag Race Season 4 in fifth place. Filipino-born Zahirah Zapanta, who placed 10th in RuPaul’s Drag Race UK Season 6, will also be entering the Werkroom.
“Filipino drag is drag excellence: My sister Marina Summers was here before, but you didn’t crown her,” said Minty Fresh, referring to Summers’ run on the show’s second season. “So this time, I’m going to get that crown for my sis. I’m a Filipina, bitch!”
RuPaul’s Drag Race UK vs The World Season 3 premieres on WOW Presents Plus on January 27.
