A V for Vendetta TV series is currently in the works at HBO, as reported by Variety. DC Studios co-CEOs James Gunn and Peter Safran are reportedly set to executive produce, alongside Ben Stephenson via Poison Pen and Leanne Klein of Wall to Wall Media, a British television production company under Warner Bros. Television Studios UK.
Fans of the comic serial know that its story follows the enigmatic anarchist V, who takes big steps towards toppling the dystopian, fascistic political party, Norsefire. Along the way, he is aided by Evey Hammond, a young woman he saves from the secret police. V for Vendetta, written by Alan Moore and illustrated by David Lloyd, was adapted into a 2005 feature film directed by James McTeigue with a script penned by The Wachowskis. It starred Hugo Weaving as V and Natalie Portman as Evey.
Another project currently being developed by HBO and DC Studios is DC Crime, a show presented as a true crime docuseries and hosted by the Daily Planet’s very own Jimmy Olsen (Skyler Gisondo). The show’s first season will reportedly focus on an evil, psychic, super-intelligent ape named Gorilla Grodd, who is best known for his villainous tete-a-tetes with The Flash.
Tony Yacenda and Dan Perrault, the creators of Netflix’s mockumentary true crime series American Vandal, will serve as the writers, executive producers, and showrunners of DC Crime. Gunn and Safran will also executive produce, while Galen Vaisman oversees production.
