Thailand’s Songkran festival will once again intersect with global EDM when Steve Aoki and Zedd headline the upcoming S2O Songkran Music Festival in Bangkok from April 11 to 13. The festival once again unfolds alongside Songkran, where the tradition of public water fights and electronic music exists in the same space, turning the crowd itself into part of the show.
Unlike most EDM festivals staged in dry, controlled environments, S2O makes water central to the experience, capitalizing on the cultural festivity. High-pressure water cannons fire into the audience as the music plays, removing the boundary between performer and crowd. This year, the festival has relocated to a new venue, S2O LAND on Ratchadaphisek Road, expanding its scale and allowing for a larger stage and audience capacity.
This year’s lineup brings together some of the genre’s most recognizable names. EDM heavyweights Alan Walker and Steve Aoki will perform a collaborative set, joined by Lost Frequencies and I Hate Models. “Clarity” producer Zedd headlines the second night alongside Don Diablo’s CTRL ALT DEL project, while Kygo and Gryffin close the final night.
Since launching in 2015, S2O has become a regular fixture of Songkran weekend. For many attendees, it has become part of how the holiday is experienced, putting dance music at the center of one of Thailand’s most enduring cultural celebrations.
