On November 14, P-pop girl group VVINK released their new single “Baduy,” a collaboration with budots pioneer DJ Love and a guest verse from rapper and Tambay founder Pio Balbuena. The track brings together hyperpop production, budots percussion, and bright K-pop-inspired melodies in a mix that feels rooted in Filipino dance culture while reaching toward something more experimental.
The group began teasing the release on October 27 with images of jeepneys, taho cups, ice cream carts, and tricycles, building a visual thread around familiar street scenes. They followed it with short clips of the members dancing in basketball courts, parking lots, and sari-sari stores. Days later, they confirmed DJ Love as the main collaborator, a move that immediately tightened the link between the single and the budots sound that has influenced Filipino party culture for more than a decade.
The music video leans fully into that influence. VVINK performs a dance break shaped around the signature budots footwork popularized by the Camusgirls, using sharp kicks and rolling leg movements to match the track’s groovy pulse. Balbuena adds a verse about embracing being “baduy,” framing the song as a celebration of everyday style and local energy.
“Baduy” follows the group’s debut single “Tulala” and “Tatlong Hiling,” both singles released under pop music label FlipMusic Records earlier this year. VVINK has been building momentum since debuting under independent pop label FlipMusic Philippines in July.
