Singer-songwriter Billie Eilish was visibly flustered in the latest episode of Complex’s Interview with a Magician when she came face-to-face with Filipino-American illusionist Anna DeGuzman, who blew away the hitmaker with card tricks and spicy one-liners like “Was I in your mouth?”
“I can’t believe I’m also answering questions. This is crazy,” Eilish said, after DeGuzman asked what it was like to work with filmmaker James Cameron on the upcoming concert film Billie Eilish – Hit Me Hard and Soft: The Tour (Live in 3D). But she answered, “The way it happened was James Cameron sent an email to my mother, literally, because they had met through something else.”
Eilish also said that she and Cameron had taken inspiration from Justin Bieber’s concert films Never Say Never and Believe, and that they wanted to stay true to how the concerts went in making the film.
Throughout the interview, DeGuzman also performed tricks like swapping cards in their mouths and accurately guessing Eilish’s answers to the questions. “Anything you do, I’m gonna be, like, drooling,” Eilish said towards the end of the interview.
DeGuzman rose to fame as a contestant on the 18th season of America’s Got Talent in 2023, where she became the first female magician to make the finale. She placed second in the talent show, just behind dog training act Adrian Stoica and Hurricane.
Her previous guests on Interview with a Magician include content creator Fanum, rapper Offset, and English singer Zayn Malik.
