The country’s longest-running rock band competition, Red Horse Beer Pambansang Muziklaban, has officially opened submissions for its 2025 edition. Since its inception in 1999, the annual contest has served as a launchpad for local musicians looking to prove their skill and become a mainstay in the Filipino rock scene.
This year’s competition will unfold through several stages, starting with online screenings and live eliminations before culminating in the Grand Finals, where the best acts will battle for the title of Pambansang Muziklaban 2025 Champion. Winners will take home prizes, performance opportunities, and a place among the competition’s storied roster of champions.
Over the years, the Muziklaban stage has showcased the breadth of Filipino rock. From the technicality of metal to the fast-paced rhythms of punk and the heavy grooves of hard rock, the contest’s commitment to original Filipino music has helped define what it means to be a modern rock act in the country.
Past Muziklaban champions include Mayonnaise in 2004, Palawan-based band Woopis in 2017, and Happy Three Friends in 2019. Registration is open until November 12 via forms.
