The Film Development Council of the Philippines’ (FDCP) selection of some of the best films from the Cannes Film Festival 2025 is finally hitting select Philippine cinemas nationwide from January 26 to February 3.
The four films in the first set of the program are:
- Jafar Panahi’s Palme d’Or Winner, It Was Just an Accident
- Joachim Trier’s Golden Globe Best Motion Picture-Drama nominee and Grand Prix Winner, Sentimental Value,
- Germany’s Oscar entry, and Cannes Jury Prize winner, Mascha Schilinski’s The Sound of Falling, and
- Bi Gan’s Prix Special winner, Resurrection.
FDCP Chairman Jose Javier Reyes teased their selection on a podcast in September 2025, initially stating they would be shown “by the end of the year.” The FDCP previewed some of the films through their by-invitation screenings in December 2025.
“[We do World Cinema program] because we want to elevate not only people like you who are cineastes, but even the common person to enjoy,” Reyes told Rolling Stone Philippines in 2025.
In 2025, the World Cinema program included The Seed of the Sacred Fig, Dahomey, and the Oscar winner, Flow.
As of now, the screening schedule and participating cinemas have not yet been announced.
