Film Concerts PH has confirmed an additional showing of Star Wars: The Empire Strikes Back In Concert on August 31, following overwhelming demand. The live orchestral screening will take place at the Theater at Solaire and will again feature the Philharmonika Orchestra, led by Filipino conductor Gerard Salonga.
The added performance joins the previously announced dates of August 30 and an earlier August 31 matinee. As with their previous stagings like Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban, the film will be shown in full with its original dialogue and sound effects intact, while the orchestra performs award-winning American composer John Williams’ score live.
Fans can expect a faithful delivery of the film’s key musical moments, from the first swell of the opening crawl to the sharp menace of “The Imperial March.” Scenes like Luke Skywalker’s fight against Darth Vader in Cloud City or Yoda’s sequence on Dagobah gain weight when experienced with a live orchestra playing just a few feet away.
The Star Wars franchise has held a long-standing connection with Filipino audiences, with many growing up with the series as a cultural touchstone when it was released in theaters. For fans of science fiction and orchestral music alike, this is a rare opportunity to experience one of the most iconic scores in cinema history performed live, fully synced to the film that helped define a generation of blockbuster storytelling.
Tickets go on sale starting July 24 at 12 noon via Ticketworld.
