Deathcore band Suicide Silence will make their first-ever Manila appearance on February 17 at the SM Skydome in Quezon City. The show is presented by Numinous Philippines, the rock events and artist management group that teased the booking at their show with post-hardcore outfit Alesana on November 25. Fans even caught a hint of the announcement through a house-speaker snippet during Numinous’ Alesana show on November 25 at the same venue, which turned into a minor guessing game across their comment sections.
The band’s current lineup features guitarists Chris Garza and Mark Heylmum, bassist Daniel Kenny, vocalist Eddie Hermida, and drummer Ernie Iniguez. Tracks like “You Only Live Once,” “No Pity for a Coward,” and “Disengage” remain pillars of their live shows. Former lead vocalist Mitch Lucker’s death in 2012 changed the band’s trajectory, with Hermida stepping in to front the group while honoring its legacy.
Two decades into their career, Suicide Silence hold a place as one of the genre’s most recognizable deathcore acts. During a 2022 Hellfest performance, Hermida told the crowd that “Metal, deathcore, and hardcore is never going to fucking die,” a line that has since followed the band online. On December 9, Garza announced an indefinite hiatus from the band, saying he “wanted to press the reset button.”
