On December 8, Truefaith will mark their 33rd year as one of the country’s most prolific pop rock bands with an anniversary concert #at the Newport Performing Arts Theater in Pasay City. The six-piece will run through decades of material that shaped their catalog, including “Dahil Ikaw,” “Perfect,” “Huwag Na Lang Kaya,” and other staples that kept the group in steady rotation across radio, bars and living rooms. They will be joined by Jett Pangan of The Dawn, singer-songwriter Ito Rapadas, and Color It Red vocalist Cooky Chua.

The current lineup features vocalist Medwin Marfil, guitarist Eugene Marfil, keyboardist Jake Lumacad, lead guitarist Allan Elgar, bassist Macky Macaventa and drummer Kaka Quisumbing. Their sound has lived across piano-led ballads, synth-pop touches and pop rock arrangements that held up through shifts in the local music landscape. The group revisited their own catalog several times over the years, including the 2021 vinyl reissue of their 2018 album Sentimental through Backspacer Records.

Formed in 1993 by Medwin Marfil, Francis Guevarra and Ferdie Marquez, the band took its name from the New Order track “True Faith,” a nod to the new wave influences that helped shape their earliest songs. They eventually moved past homage and landed on a style that reached a wide demographic of listeners. Their legacy even crossed into global spaces when American experimental pop duo MGMT referenced them for the 2018 single “Me & Michael,” proof that Truefaith’s imprint reached far beyond local charts.
