The Netflix documentary series Sean Combs: The Reckoning, produced by rapper-actor Curtis “50 Cent” Jackson, is coming to the streaming platform on Tuesday, December 2. This comes nearly two months after rapper Sean “Diddy” Combs was sentenced to 50 months in prison, having been found guilty on two counts of transportation for the purposes of prostitution.

Though 50 Cent is well known as Diddy’s longtime nemesis in the music industry, Extra reports that the four-part documentary is “very balanced, not a hit piece.” Netflix describes the upcoming series as “a staggering examination of the media mogul, music legend, and convicted offender.”

“I wondered how [singer Cassie Ventura] had the confidence to go out there against a mogul like Sean Combs,” said director Alexandria Stapleton in a statement. “As a filmmaker, I instantly knew it was a stress test of whether we’ve changed as a culture, as far as being able to process allegations like this in a fair way.”

Stapleton also directed comedian Chelsea Handler’s 2019 documentary Hello, Privilege. It’s Me, Chelsea and the 2024 Paramount+ documentary How Music Got Free.

“I’m grateful to everyone who came forward and trusted us with their stories, and proud to have Alexandria Stapleton as the director on the project to bring this important story to the screen,” said 50 Cent.

In November 2023, Ventura filed a lawsuit against Combs alleging that he subjected her to abuse, violence, and sex trafficking. In 2024, Combs was indicted for racketeering conspiracy; sex trafficking by force, fraud, or coercion; and transportation to engage in prostitution. In May this year, Ventura testified against Combs during the trial, detailing the “Freak Offs” or alleged drug-fueled sex parties that Combs forced her into when the two dated from 2007 to 2018.

While Combs was found guilty of transportation to engage in prostitution, he was not found guilty of racketeering and sex trafficking.
