Dwayne Johnson’s A24 sports drama film The Smashing Machine is coming to Philippine cinemas.
The Benny Safdie-directed biopic sees The Rock transform into MMA fighter and UFC legend Mark Kerr, following him as he navigates life both inside and outside the ring. Johnson stars alongside Emily Blunt, who plays Kerr’s wife, Dawn Staples. The film made its global premiere at the Venice Film Festival earlier this month, where it received a 15-minute standing ovation that brought Johnson to tears.
Black Cap Pictures, the Philippine film studio that’s brought movies like Lav Diaz’s Magellan to cinemas nationwide, announced that it would also be bringing The Smashing Machine to Filipino audiences. The studio has yet to announce the locations where the film will be screened.
The Smashing Machine comes to Philippine cinemas on October 1.
