Pride Month is already in full swing, and singer-songwriter Stef Aranas is making sure it gets even louder.
On June 12, she’ll be releasing a remix of her 2023 track, “QC GURLZ,” featuring rapper and media personality Sassa Gurl. The original version, which swayed between soft instrumentals and trap beats, paid homage to ride-or-die friendships, the city girl lifestyle, and the nightlife that raised her. This time, it’s taking a different form: meaner, slicker, and with more fire, thanks to Sassa Gurl dropping in with a new verse in the remix.
Aranas teased the remix on Instagram last May 30, dropping a snippet of Sassa Gurl’s section that sparked immediate buzz. Hours later, both Aranas and Sassa Gurl gave the crowd the full live performance at a queer event in Cubao, Quezon City an early taste of the remix, marking the first time the collaboration was played in public.
Stef Aranas isn’t new to setting the tone. Since her 2017 breakout track “Trust,” she has built her name on versatility and voice, often working with queer allies like producer Euge, performers Kumare Harvey, and M1ss Jade So. Her R&B roots are steeped in softness, but never weakness. Sassa Gurl, meanwhile, has taken her platform beyond content creation. Since gaining massive popularity in 2022 with her comedic skits on TikTok, she’s dropped viral music like “Maria Hiwaga” in 2023 and “Uma” in 2024
“QC GURLZ REMIX” drops June 12 on all streaming platforms.
