Sue Ramirez and Khalil Ramos take the spotlight in Netflix’s latest original romantic-comedy, One Hit Wonder.
The film follows Lorina (Ramirez) and Entoy (Ramos), two aspiring musicians who attempt to chase fame in the 1990s OPM scene. Although Lorina believes she’s missed her chance at fame, Entoy insists that they still have another shot. A newly released trailer shows glimpses of their relationship deepening while they both perform onstage, with Lorina taking the mic and Entoy strumming his guitar.
This isn’t the first time that Ramirez and Ramos have teamed up onscreen. They were first paired as love interests in ABS-CBN’s 2013 drama series Annaliza, which was a remake of the acclaimed 1980 series of the same title. They also starred in the ensemble cast of the 2019 Mikhail Red-directed thriller Dead Kids.
One Hit Wonder continues Netflix’s recent push for original Filipino content. In February, the platform released the rom-com Sosyal Climbers, starring Maris Racal and Anthony Jennings. Up next is the comedy Kontrabida Academy, starring Barbie Forteza and Eugene Domingo, though its release date has yet to be announced. Netflix has also made available multiple Filipino titles for streaming, including several of the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival’s entries (Green Bones, And the Breadwinner Is…), as well as ABS-CBN’s action series Incognito.
One Hit Wonder premieres on Netflix starting August 21.
