The Office — and I mean the American one, not the original BBC series — has enjoyed a 20-year legacy as one of the most quotable, most viewed, and most loved comedy shows out there. While the NBC series ended in 2013, much to the chagrin of its dedicated fans, audiences can delight in the fact that a loose spin-off, The Paper, will soon be available to stream in all its glory on HBO Max.
The Paper is set in the same universe as The Office, but not in the cold, bleak office walls of Dunder Mifflin. It continues the original mockumentary style as a documentary crew films the staff of the Toledo Truth-Teller, a historic but dying Midwestern newspaper that is trying to revive itself using volunteer reporters. The series stars Domhnall Gleeson as Ned Sampson, the paper’s starry-eyed Editor in Chief Ned Sampson who is holding on, despite all odds, to the power of local journalism. It also stars Sabrina Impacciatore, Chelsea Frei, Melvin Gregg, and more.
The Paper begins streaming on HBO Max on September 14.
