Pop rock band IV of Spades announced their sophomore album Andalucia, set for release on November 5, during their performance at the Wish 107.5 11th Anniversary concert at Eton Centris in Quezon City. The reveal came in the middle of their set, marking one of their biggest statements since ending a five-year hiatus. It follows the release of their comeback singles “Aura” and “Nanaman,” which saw the return of lead vocalist Unique Salonga.

The group, rounded out by Salonga, lead guitarist Blaster Silonga, bassist Zild Benitez and drummer Badjao De Castro, have been one of the most distinctive acts in Philippine pop this past decade. They are best known for “Mundo,” a song that has become a generational anthem, and for pushing funk, pop, and rock into new territory. Their last full-length, CLAP!CLAP!CLAP! in 2019, leaned into disco and funk revivalism, arriving just months after Salonga released his solo debut Grandma – an acoustic-heavy, experimental record. Both projects delivered viral hits, with “Come Inside of My Heart” and “Sino” cementing their presence beyond their scene.

In the years since, all four members have established their own creative identities through solo releases, keeping their names active while the band lay dormant. Andalucia signals a new chapter for IV of Spades, the first time the group has written and recorded fresh material together with Salonga since his brief departure.
