Fans of Hayao Miyazaki’s beloved animated films can look forward to Studio Ghibli Fest 2025, a week-long program that promises screenings of six Studio Ghibli classics.
The festival, organized by SM Cinemas, will include six films: Princess Mononoke, Spirited Away, My Neighbor Totoro, Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind, The Wind Rises, and Ponyo. These films will be screened nationwide at select SM Cinema branches, such as SM Megamall, SM Aura, SM City Cebu, and SM City Butuan. The list of participating branches is available on SM Cinema’s Facebook page.
Miyazaki, who co-founded Studio Ghibli in 1985 and currently serves as its honorary chairman, recently received the 2024 Ramon Magsaysay Award “for his lifelong commitment to the use of art, especially animation, to illuminate the human condition.”
Although all Studio Ghibli films are available on Netflix, experiencing them on the big screen instills a different kind of wonder.
Studio Ghibli Fest 2025 will run from September 10 to 16.
