Netflix is adding two more major Filipino movies to its library this November.

Isang Himala, director Pepe Diokno’s musical adaptation of the Nora Aunor-led classic Himala, made its national premiere at the 2024 Metro Manila Film Festival. It follows a young woman named Elsa (Aicelle Santos), who experiences a vision of the Virgin Mary during an eclipse in her rural hometown of Cupang. Convinced she can now perform miracles, Elsa becomes a deity figure to the local townspeople, blurring the lines between faith and reason. Written by National Artist Ricky Lee and scored by Vincent de Jesus, Isang Himala won the festival’s awards for Special Jury Prize, Best Supporting Actress, Best Original Theme Song, and Best Musical Score.

Also joining the streaming platform is Flower Girl, writer and director Fatrick Tabada’s absurd comedy about a woman named Ena (Sue Ramirez) who, after offending a trans woman babaylan (Kaladkaren), wakes up without a vagina. Ena’s journey of reflection and self-discovery closed the New York Asian Film Festival in July, where it made its international premiere.

Isang Himala begins streaming on November 6, while Flower Girl starts November 20.
