The sequel to the 2023 hit queer romantic comedy Red, White & Royal Blue is now in production, as announced by Taylor Zakhar Perez and Nicholas Galitzine in the film’s social media accounts.
The short video offers a behind-the-scenes look at the production. The two also teased that they are filming scenes for the wedding of Prince Henry’s (Galitzine) sister, Princess Beatrice (Ellie Bamber).
“We’re not getting married,” says Perez, who plays Alex Claremont-Diaz, the first son of the United States.
“That’s a long ways [sic] off at this point,” adds Galatzine, whose character is third in line to the British throne.
In October 2025, Variety reported that the sequel is officially titled Red, White & Royal Wedding. Emmy-nominated director Jamie Babbit is also taking over from Matthew López in the director’s chair. Babbit has helmed episodes of acclaimed TV shows such as Gilmore Girls, The Marvelous Mrs. Maisel, and Only Murders in the Building.
López is returning to co-write the film with Red, White & Royal Blue author Casey McQuiston.
According to the new teaser, it’s safe to assume that the “wedding” in the title is Princess Beatrice’s wedding. But we’ll open ourselves up for more possibilities.
The sequel has no release date yet.
