Lana Del Rey has officially returned with “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter,” released February 17, off her upcoming album, Stove, her first album since Did You Know That There’s A Tunnel Under Ocean Boulevard in 2023.

The track was co-written by her husband, Jeremy Dufrene, alongside her brother-in-law and her sister, Caroline “Chuck” Grant. Ever since marrying Dufrene in September 2024, the Norman Fucking Rockwell! hitmaker has moved toward a darker direction in terms of lyric writing and production choices. The new song incorporates string arrangements, almost abstract childlike lyricism, and a mood that feels as elusive as the album itself. The single’s cover art reinforces that change in sound: a wolf stands guard over a sleeping child, painted in dry, dead monotone colors that mirror the song’s uneasy calm.

This is Del Rey’s first official single since releasing two standalone tracks, “Henry, Come On” and “Bluebird,” in April 2025. Both double down into her familiar Americana singer-songwriter aesthetic. In contrast, “White Feather Hawk Tail Deer Hunter” is a deeper step into stranger territory, hinting at a surreal and darker jazz-leaning direction as she begins the rollout of Stove, now expected later this year.
