Not one, but two new additions to the Spider-Man franchise unveiled exclusive footage at this year’s CinemaCon.
Sony introduced a scene from Spider-Man: Brand New Day, the fourth live-action film with Tom Holland as the friendly neighborhood webslinger. Holland, who spoke to the crowd via a prerecorded message, described this latest film as “big and fun and cool… the most emotional Spider-Man, and in some ways, the most grown up.”
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the for-room-only clip shows Peter Parker crashing a house party that his former friends Ned (Jacob Batalon) and MJ (Zendaya) are throwing. While there, Peter finds Ned’s “Spider-Man board,” a wall of photos and newspaper clippings that he’s created to figure out the hero’s real identity. Peter also bumps into MJ, but flees the scene as soon as he realizes that she’s at the party with someone else.
Sony also released two new posters for Brand New Day, one that gives us a close-up of the Spider-Man mask and another that shows our hero fighting against a horde of katana-wielding ninjas.
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse also unveiled new material. As reported by Variety, the released scene picks up immediately after Across the Spider-Verse, with Miles Morales (Shameik Moore) trapped in another dimension. After escaping a tense interrogation scene with his uncle Aaron (Mahershala Ali) and Prowler Miles (Jharrel Jerome), the villains of this alternate dimension, Miles is saved by Spider-Gwen (Hailee Steinfeld), Spider-Ham (John Mulaney), Spider-Noir (Nicolas Cage), Peter B. Parker (Jake Johnson), and Spider-Punk (Daniel Kaluuya).
Although a release date has yet to be set for Beyond the Spider-Verse (which should be premiering sometime in 2027), Brand New Day will hit Philippine cinemas on July 29.
