It’s been three years since we’ve seen the Lamberts in Insidious: The Red Door, which turned out to be a direct sequel to the second Insidious film. The long and winding road to the fate of Renai, Josh, Dalton, and The Further, the purgatorial realm of the franchise, but we’re back again this year with Insidious: Out of the Further with a new family to scare.
Lin Shaye reprises her iconic role as Elise, who manifests through a new medium (played by Maisie Richardson-Sellers). This time, they help a distraught mother and dentist, Gemma (Amelia Eve), who is raising her daughter in the house she grew up in (not a good sign in the world of Insidious). Gemma starts having nightmares (of course) and discovers she can travel into The Further, but with one caveat, as Elise mentions, “she can bring demons back to the human world.”
Brandon Perea (Nope, The OA) is also here to be terrified.
Jacob Chase (Come Play) is directing with Jason Blum, Oren Peli, James Wan, and Leigh Whannell also returning as producers.
Insidious: Out of the Further is in theaters beginning August 19.
