The Malasimbo Music and Arts Festival is back for its 16th year with a massive co-headlining lineup celebrating reggae and world music. The festival has just announced a second wave of artists set to grace the stage for its milestone year. Cebuano dub reggae group Selah Dub Warriors and Jeck Pilpil & Peacepipe are the two local artists opening the festival’s live music stage on May 23 at Puerto Real Gardens in Intramuros, Manila. Art installations by nine local artists will also be displayed throughout the venue. A Kid’s Village will be open for other activities, with drum workshops, nature weaving, and yoga open for attendees.
Local openers Jeck Pilpil & Peacepipe is the first Pinoy reggae act to release an album under Tuff Gong International, Bob Marley’s legendary record label. Meanwhile, Selah Dub Warriors are known for their collaborations with local reggae legends from VisMin Junior Kilat and American reggae musician Quino of Big Mountain. The group also opened Malasimbo back in 2024 in Puerto Galera.
Julian Marley & The Uprising and afrobeat musician Sean Kuti & Fela’s Egypt 80 will be headlining the festival’s 16th year. Both aforementioned headliners are sons of iconic musicians Bob Marley and Fela Kuti from their respective music genres, with Kuti being recently inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2026 class alongside other musicians Sade, Wu-Tang Clan, Oasis, and more last April 15.
