5 Must-See Book Launches and Events at 2026 Manila International Book Fair

From an Atom Araullo-hosted launch to a talk by the author of a new book about The Beatles in Manila, this iteration of the longest-running book fair in the country is one to watch

Last year, over 160,000 people attended the Manila International Book Fair (MIBF), the longest-running book fair in the country, tracing its beginnings back to the 1980s. This year, with over 200 exhibitors, including small and established presses, MIBF will run for five days, from September 9 to 13 at the SMX Convention Center in Pasay.

The duration of the book fair is filled with book launches, talks, workshops and seminars, and even book signings with authors present. Here, we list down five that are worth going to over the next few days.

‘Kikomachine Komix Blg. XX’ Launch with Manix Abrera

The 20th edition of the best-selling comic series by author and cartoonist Manix Abrera will launch at MIBF this year. Abrera promises “Terror! Spikey! Parallel Earth! Hiwaga! Dwende! Pag-ibig! Kababalaghan!” for fans of Kikomachine Komix. On September 11, Abrera will also feature in an event organized by MIBF on comics and creativity.

Howie Severino’s New Book on ‘People He Knew’

Multi-awarded journalist Howie Severino will launch his latest book, People I Knew: And Some I Didn’t But Wrote About Them Anyway (UST Publishing House) at this year’s MIBF. His publisher is also hosting a meet-and-greet for fans who want to get their hands on the new book.

Ben&Ben’s Book Based on Third Studio Album

The twin leads of the nine-piece folk-pop band, Miguel Benjamin G. Guico and Paolo Benjamin G. Guico, made a book off their third studio album of the same name, The Traveller Across Dimensions Book, and are launching it on September 12. “Magbibigay kami ng book talk, at saka magbebenta ng limited signed copies ng libro. Kung maabutan ka namin doon, catch up tayo saglit!” the brothers said in a post.

David Guerrero’s New Book on The Beatles in Manila

Published by Penguin Random House Southeast Asia, You Won’t See Me When the Beatles Ghosted Imelda, is David Guerrero’s retelling of that blip in The Beatles’ touring history involving the Marcoses in the ‘60s. Guerrero speaks to musician and broadcast journalist Lourd de Veyra in a talk followed by a book signing event.

A New Book on PH Showbiz by One of Its Revered Insiders

Writer, talent manager, and columnist Noel Ferrer’s new book, Level Up: Narrating Stardom, Substance and Service, gives a never-before-seen glimpse behind the country’s entertainment industry. The book, which also caps off Ferrer’s 35 years in showbiz, will be launched at MIBF with hosts Atom Araullo, Karmina Constantino, and Kim Atienza.
