A new living collection of Filipino photographs makes its way to Katipunan Avenue on November 7, arriving right in time for the celebration of photography’s 200th year. Spotlight by Silver Print aims to gather original works by local photographers such as Neal Oshima, Jilson Tiu, and Tom Epperson, among others, in one studio for enthusiasts to browse and buy.

Spotlight gives Filipino photographers a platform to present and sell their original work, inviting audiences to learn about the artist and appreciate it as a physical artwork. They may choose among print sizes A5, A4, A3, A2, or A1, or the Crate Editions, which are A4 prints in 12×12 inches (or about the size of one ) that could be flipped through in the Shutterspace Studios like actual records.

According to the printing studio, every piece is printed on museum-grade pigment inks on acid-free Hahnemühle fine art paper, hand-signed by the artist and issued with a certificate of authenticity.

“Start with a photograph that moves you, sparks curiosity, or changes how you see something familiar. You don’t need specialist knowledge,” Silver Print said.

To support local photographers, Silver Print will shoulder all marketing, printing, and platform costs for the Spotlight showcase, putting no risk at all for the artists. This collection follows their same promise of promoting Filipino artists and photographers, from their successful 2020 program Shelter Fund, which aided over 300 photographers in selling more than 2,000 prints during the pandemic. This time, however, Silver Print’s commitment is solidified and remains a physical fixture.
