Hollanov lovers, put your jerseys away: Heated Rivalry author Rachel Reid has announced that the next book in her Game Changers series will be delayed to a 2027 release.
Reid made the announcement in a recent video posted on Instagram, where she spoke candidly about her worsening symptoms of Parkinson’s disease. “My life has gotten very different in the last couple months, and although it’s all good, it’s also taken away my ability to have quality time to write,” said Reid. The author went on to explain that her Parkinson’s symptoms had made it physically difficult for her to write, and that she would need to navigate her diagnosis instead of ignoring it.
Reid had initially announced that her upcoming novel, Unrivaled, would be slated for a September release. The book is set to follow our favorite hot hockey players, Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander, as they navigate life as a couple in the public eye. “For more than a decade, they kept their love a secret,” reads the book’s official synopsis. “But now they’re out, married, and even playing on the same team. The support is incredible. Most of the time.”
Unrivaled now has a new publication date of June 1, 2027. While that may seem like a long time, fret not: that may be around the same time the second season of Crave’s megahit series will be airing.
What’s more, Reid’s video also teased more announcements to come. “Maybe to soften the blow, a little later this week there’s going to be some announcements made about some things that I think people have been hoping for,” said Reid. “So you can wait for those and it might make you feel a little bit better.”
