NAZA, the 2026 British documentary film about Israel’s AI killing machine in Gaza is set to release theatrically in more than 50 countries globally on September 28 and will eventually become free to watch online on global digital news organization The Guardian by the end of November. The docu was produced by The Guardian. Its digital rollout is part of the news organization’s “commitment to the dissemination of independent journalism.”
NAZA received the longest standing ovation ever at its premiere at the Venice Film Festival, and it won a special jury prize last September 12. The film revolves around interviews set in Tel Aviv where Israeli insiders testified about the integration of artificial intelligence and automated surveillance in military targeting systems used by Israeli forces in Gaza.
The film takes its title from the military acronym euphemistically used by Israeli intelligence to indicate the number of civilians they expect to kill in an airstrike.
The film was directed by Israeli journalists and filmmakers Yuval Abraham and Rachel Szor. Their previous film, No Other Land, alongside Palestinian activists and journalists Basel Adra and Hamdam Ballal, tackles the forced displacement of Palestinians in the West Bank. It won the Academy Award for Best Documentary Feature Film at the 97th Academy Awards last March 2025.
