Film director Baby Ruth Villarama’s film Food Delivery, which documents the plight of fishermen and the Philippine Coast Guard in the West Philippine Sea, finally comes home this August with a limited engagement at Power Plant Cinemas.
The film recently held its Philippine premiere. According to producer Chuck Gutierrez, the premiere was attended by 1,200 people — “filmmakers, journalists, government leaders, military, coast guard, families, and most of all, our courageous fishermen.”

Food Delivery: Fresh from the West Philippine Sea recently won the “Tides of Change” category at Doc Edge Awards 2025, where it held its World Premiere. It was at this film festival that the Chinese Consulate in New Zealand requested that the festival organizers halt the screenings of the Filipino documentary. Yet, Doc Edge stood firm.
“We are a voice for independent filmmakers,” Doc Edge general manager Rachael Penman told New Zealand’s 1News. “We programmed a film that we felt was really important to be seen and brings up a conversation with so many people. I hope that everyone does go and see this now, and has their own opportunity to make their own decisions about this film.”
As of this writing, audiences can now book tickets for screenings on August 2-4, 6, and 8. Tickets can only be purchased through this link and not directly with Power Plant Cinemas.
