The Fast & Furious franchise is getting its own television series. Streaming platform Peacock has ordered a show set within the blockbuster franchise’s universe, with its star Vin Diesel attached as executive producer. While Diesel himself has suggested the franchise could eventually expand into as many as four series, Peacock has clarified that only one show is currently in development.
According to Deadline, NBCUniversal is producing the yet-to-be-titled show, and the streamer is aiming for a 2028 premiere. Last May, Diesel went on to announce the project’s development at NBCUniversal’s upfront show in New York.
“As you all know, we are very precious about these movies, but over the last decade,” Diesel says. “We’ve realized that the fans have wanted more, they wanted us to expand the legacy characters, their stories.”
The series announcement comes as the franchise celebrates its 25th anniversary. The Fast & Furious was released on June 22, 2001, and the final film of the franchise, Fast Forever, is scheduled for release in March 2028. The main stars include Diesel, the late Paul Walker, who tragically passed away from a car accident in 2013, Michelle Rodriguez, and Jordana Brewster.
