K-pop superstar Jennie just took over the Coachella stage. Drenched in black and red, the BLACKPINK rapper turned solo powerhouse held a giant party at Outdoor Stage in Indio, California, proving she  can command a massive festival crowd. Running through cuts from her explosive debut album Ruby including the swaggering “Filter” and the hypnotic “like Jennie,” she delivered a set that was equal parts precision and provocation.

While her BLACKPINK sisters showed up in support including LISA, who performed her own high-octane Coachella sets on both weekends, Jennie carved out a distinct lane, opting for something darker, raunchier, and more sonically adventurous. This was a K-pop star flexing their artistic range; Backed by a live band that veered from snarling rock riffs to hardcore electronic breakdowns, Jennie showcased the full scope of her skills. She didn’t just rap – she sang, sliding between the sultry grooves of Ruby deep cuts and the raw, reverse-engineered production of “ZEN.” A surprise guest appearance from Kali Uchis on “Damn Right” added a shot of R&B cool, while the brash, unapologetic ballad “F.T.S.” proved she could strip things back without losing an ounce of intensity.

For an artist with just one solo album under her belt, the setlist was remarkably stacked. The entire performance had zero filler, it was all hits-in-the-making. But more than just a victory lap, this performance felt like a statement. Jennie is diving headfirst into solo stardom, and Coachella was her huge coming-out party.

If this is what Jennie’s solo era looks like, consider the bar officially raised. Coachella got a headliner-caliber performance from an artist just getting started. And the best part? She’s only warming up.
