Jisoo’s rise to stardom came with her role in Blackpink, the acclaimed South Korean girl group that is best known for hit tracks blending powerful dance pop with elements of hip-hop, EDM, and R&B. Tracks like “DDU-DU DDU-DU,” “Kill This Love,” and “How You Like That” defined their dynamic sound and brought the group into the global spotlight.
Every Blink (the term for Blackpink fans) has their own bias from the group, but despite being a core part of Blackpink’s success, her contributions to the group sometimes fly under the radar compared to Jennie, Rosé, or Lisa.
However, Jisoo has firmly carved out her own path beyond Blackpink. In 2023, the singer released her first debut single album Me, which shattered records by achieving the highest first-day sales for any female solo artist in Korean music chart Hanteo’s history. The album went on to sell over 1.17 million copies in the first weeks after its release, cementing Jisoo’s debut as a solo artist.

Jisoo’s influence extends beyond music, with her role as Dior’s global ambassador marking a major milestone in her career. In 2020, amidst the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic, the luxury brand saw a notable surge in sales in South Korea, partially credited to Jisoo’s impactful role in their marketing efforts. Her appearances promoting Dior’s Bobby bag helped propel the brand to new heights, contributing to a record-breaking sales figure of 9.31 trillion won (or 390 billion pesos) in 2022.
2025 sees Jisoo continuing to solidify her position as a global icon, with her influence spanning music, fashion, and beyond. The singer is set to prove her haters wrong in her upcoming Manila solo tour after announcing the release of her highly anticipated solo mini-album, AMORTAGE, set to drop on February 14. She is also set to star in the zombie romance K-drama, Newtopia, which begins streaming on Amazon Prime Video on February 7. As she continues to break new ground, fans around the world eagerly await the next chapter in Jisoo’s extraordinary journey, knowing she’s only just getting started.
