Emerging Bicolano folk artist Jan Roberts takes a significant step forward in his career with his upcoming single “Hingalo,” set for release on May 9 under Warner Music Philippines. The track explores universal themes of remembrance and healing, offering listeners a musical path through difficult memories. This release marks Roberts’ first collaboration with folk band Shirebound, an artist whose style complements Roberts’ own artistic approach.
Roberts carves out his own space in the folk genre through his distinctive approach to language, guitar work, and vocal delivery. This collaboration serves as both an artistic milestone and a testament that regional artists can achieve national recognition while staying true to their roots, whether based in Metro Manila or their home provinces.
The Legazpi, Albay native spoke to Rolling Stone Philippines about the creative process behind the collaboration.

As an advocate for regional artists, Roberts reflects on the growing recognition of talents outside Manila.
The release of “Hingalo” across streaming platforms signifies the continuing evolution of our music landscape, where authentic regional voices like Roberts’ are finding their place in the national conversation. The track showcases how traditional folk elements can be reimagined through fresh perspectives while maintaining their emotional core.
