Editor’s Note (April 29, 2025): Jewelmer Jazz and Afrobeat Orchestra is no longer performing at Malasimbo Festival on May 4. This article has been updated to reflect this development.

Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival is rescheduled for May 4 at Puerta Real Gardens, inside Manila’s walled city of Intramuros. On March 9, the festival was cancelled on the morning of the event due to a sudden downpour of rain that flooded the majority of the venue.

On March 28, the festival announced a new date and an updated lineup which includes some artists from the original billing and additional new acts like Motherbass, an electronic music DJ duo, rap group H20 Clann, and a special set by Morobeats featuring rappers Fateeha, Miss A and DJ Medmessiah. The program will also be more focused on its local art and kids program, including “Battle of the Brush,” which is an opportunity for artists to showcase their live art performances.

“The rescheduling of Malasimbo has undoubtedly presented challenges,” Malasimbo founder and director Miro Grgić says, “which is why we are introducing some fresh new elements into the program, including ‘Battle of the Brush’ and something I’m personally excited to work on.” Grgić also highlights key local acts in the line-up to watch out for, including La Crema and NxC.
