The National will release a new live album, Rome, on December 13 via 4AD. The album was recorded without overdubs on June 3, in Cavea at Auditorium Parco della Musica Ennio Morricone, in Rome, Italy.

Mixed by long-time collaborator Peter Katsis, the album has 21 tracks and a double-LP featuring the band’s songwriting spanning 20 years. Among Rome’s newly released live versions include “Bloodbuzz Ohio” and “England” from their 2010 album High Violet; “Eucalyptus,” “New Order T-Shirt,” and “Tropic Morning News” from First Two Pages of Frankenstein released in 2023; and “Fake Empire” from their fourth studio album Boxer, among others.

The National will also release a four-song EP titled NTL RM EP I containing preview tracks from Rome such as “I Need My Girl” from their 2013 release Trouble Will Find Me, “Lemonworld” from High Violet, and “The Geese of Beverly Road” and “Lit Up” from Alligator, their third studio album.

Last October, The National concluded its Zen Diagram tour across outdoor venues in North America, with arena shows at Chicago’s United Center, Climate Pledge Arena in Seattle, Moda Center in Portland, and Los Angeles’ Greek Theatre and Hollywood Bowl. The tour also included special guests The War on Drugs and Lucius.

Formed in Brooklyn, New York in 1999, The National is composed of vocalist Matt Berninger, twin brothers Aaron and Bryce Dessner — who interchange between guitar, piano, and keyboard — and brothers Scott (bass) and Bryan (drums) Devendorf. In 2018, they won the Grammy Award for Best Alternative Music Album for Sleep Well Beast
