The world’s biggest K-pop festival is coming in 2027. Fanomenon is a collaboration between the Presidential Committee on Popular Culture Exchange and K-pop’s “Big 4” entertainment companies. The event will feature an awards show, concerts, and other festivities. Announced on July 27 during the 2027 Fanomenon Promotion Plan conference, Culture, Sports and Tourism Minister Chae Hwi-young and JYP Entertainment founder J.Y. Park confirmed that the festival will bring together HYBE, SM Entertainment, JYP Entertainment, and YG Entertainment under one roof. The inaugural Fanomenon will run from December 2 to 12, 2027.
Park, who serves as co-chair of the committee alongside Hwi-young, first outlined Fanomenon’s goals during the committee’s launch at KINTEX in Goyang back in October 2025, promising to “build a world-class K-pop venue and plan a festival that surpasses the Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival.”
Korean Coachella
According to The Korea Herald, Park said Fanomenon will not be exclusive to Korean artists, with international acts expected to perform alongside local artists. The committee also unveiled three long-term projects. The first is the domestic Fanomenon Awards, launching the festivities in Seoul and Goyang in December 2027. The second is an overseas music festival, with the inaugural Fanomenon Festival in Los Angeles scheduled for May 2028, which Park described as having a “similar nature to Coachella.” The third is the establishment of K-culture centers in major cities around the world.
Unlike existing awards shows, Park said the Fanomenon Awards will focus more on fandoms rather than the artists themselves. Park also revealed that the inaugural ceremony will introduce a fan-centered prize called “Fandemonium.”
“The fans of the artists are the winners, and the artists accept the awards on their behalf,” Park says. “We research and analyze which fandoms burned the brightest in each category to select the Top 10. Rather than voting, the process of building a matrix based on meticulously detailed data is now in its final stages.”
The committee estimates that the 11-day event from December 2 to 12 will attract around 520,000 visitors, including 200,000 international tourists, generating an economic impact of more than 1 trillion won.
The Fanomenon lineup, venue details, and ticket pricing have yet to be announced.
