On February 5, Costa Cashman, Filipino rapper and member of rap duo O $ide Mafia, released his debut solo single, “Talk Shit.” In the music video, he confidently strides in a bulletproof vest, symbolizing his readiness for anything. With red and blue police sirens blaring in the background, Cashman stands fearless. From his humble beginnings in a black Toyota Camry to filming with Al James in a hangar, Cashman returns to his roots in Malate, the unofficial headquarters of one of Philippine hip-hop’s most sought-after rap groups.

The song’s opening verse sets the tone that Cashman isn’t here to fool around: “Oh, asan yung strap boy at bakit ka kabado? Akala ko ba thugga, bakit di ka armado?” With this release, Cashman marks a significant milestone as his first solo single.  Cashman didn’t mince words when explaining the intent behind the single. “Ginawa ko yung kanta na ‘toh kasi gusto ko lang talagang mag-Talk Shit,” he says. “Kasi daming nagsasabi flop na kami, flop na ako, pero ito lang yung masasabi ko sa kanilang lahat.”

O $ide Mafia has been a fixture in the hip-hop scene for almost six years. Starting as a rap duo, later evolving into a three-piece group, the unit has earned accolades and viral success with hits like “20 Deep”, “Get Low”, and “Kunan Mong Pic.” With Costa Cashman’s latest release, it’s clear he’s running the gamut and proving his versatility. Directed by dot.jaime, the music video captures Cashman walking the streets with his crew — whether it’s standing in front of a store in his hometown, or evading the police in a tight alleyway. Through it all, Cashman’s stature in the scene is solidified with thick-skinned valor.

The music video for Costa Cashman’s debut single “Talk Shit” is now out on Youtube.
