Noel Gallagher of Oasis and Genesis frontman Phil Collins are about to cross paths at the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2026. Oasis and Phil Collins — as a solo artist — are part of this year’s class alongside artists like Wu-Tang Clan, Queen Latifah, Fela Kuti, Billy Idol, and many more. The two rock legends coming together has music fans on their toes, as Gallagher has never hidden his disdain for Collins, who, funnily enough, is still trying to figure out what caused it.

In a recent interview with Mojo magazine, the Genesis frontman addressed Gallagher’s long-running beef with him. Back in 1994, Gallagher infamously called Collins “the antichrist of music” in an interview. The remark came after seeing Genesis perform in the 1980s. Gallagher later doubled down, saying he wanted to get rid of Collins and Sting, stamping them out of the charts. He even added that he wanted “the severed head of Phil Collins in my fridge by the end of this decade.” And if Gallagher isn’t able to, he’d be a failure.

Collins then responded that he couldn’t remember which performance prompted Gallagher’s devilish remark, though he guessed it might have been “Mama,” the menacing track from Genesis’ 1983 self-titled album, in which he lets out a demonic laugh while holding a flashlight under his face. “I think ‘Mama’ is why Noel called me the antichrist,” Collins said.

Gallagher-Collins Beef Over the Years

In 1997, Gallagher told The Guardian that people should effectively vote Collins out of the country. “If the Conservatives get in, Phil Collins is threatening to come back and live here,” he said. “And let’s face it, none of us want that.” Collins eventually responded to the remarks, dismissing Oasis as “rude, horrible… and not as talented as they think” in an interview with the Irish Examiner in 2005.

The feud even reached a point where Collins’ daughter, actress Lily Collins, confronted Noel Gallagher’s brother, Liam, backstage at the Live Earth charity concert in 2007. “She went up to him and said, ‘Why do you hate my dad?’” Collins said. “And apparently Liam said, ‘I don’t hate anybody, love.’”

After reflecting on the long-running feud, Collins said he hopes to bump into the Gallagher brothers over lunch before the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame ceremony this year, adding that it should be “interesting.”

Oasis was nominated for the third consecutive year in 2026, following nominations in 2024 and 2025. Liam previously reacted to the band’s 2024 nomination by writing, “Fuck the Rock n Roll Hall of Fame, it’s full of BUMBACLARTS.” He also discouraged fans from voting for the band, calling it “a load of bollox.” Gallagher doubled down in 2025, saying the Rock Hall was “for WANKERS.” However, when one fan asked what would happen if Oasis got in, he replied, “Obv go and say it’s the best thing EVER.”

Collins’ band, Genesis, was inducted into the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame on March 15, 2010.

The Rock & Roll Hall of Fame 2026 will take place on November 14 at the Peacock Theater in Los Angeles, California.
