Alternative rock and indie folk quartet Ourselves the Elves will mark a major milestone as they head out on a nationwide tour celebrating the 10th anniversary of their sophomore EP Geography Lessons.
The tour officially began in Metro Manila with a show on November 29 at Hola Escolta in Manila City and will continue throughout December and January. The band will stop by Luzon cities in Pampanga and Los Baños first, make their way to VisMin cities such as Cagayan de Oro and Davao City, and close out the tour in Cebu. Each leg frames how far Geography Lessons has traveled on its own, long after its release resonated strongly with a new wave of listeners.
The band is also offering a limited-edition double-disc set featuring the entire EP alongside Petersen Vargas’ short film Lisyun Qng Geografia. Tracks such as “Uncertainly” and “Longing For” carried a sincerity that pushed the band out of small rooms and into wider corners of the scene. Producer Nick Lazaro helped shape the record’s intimate scale, giving the quartet a sonic identity that still holds up to this day.
Vargas’ film, originally submitted as his thesis at the UP Film Institute in 2014, earned “Best Direction in Short Film” at the 11th Cinemalaya Film Festival in 2015. Its return in this anniversary package adds another layer to the legacy that Geography Lessons continues to build.
