This weekend, gig across Metro Manila are brimming with all kinds of talent. From hardcore and hip-hop to dream-pop and alternative rock, local venues are hosting a wide range of acts that highlight both homegrown talent and international artists. With its mix of genres, there’s a gig for every type of music lover.

‘It’s a Deadyears Show’ 

Mow’s, 20 Matalino St, Diliman, Quezon City
January 25, 7 p.m. 

Celebrate the music of pop-punk outfit Deadyears and their favorite bill of musicians: mixed genre acts such as all-female math rock trio Thirds, alternative rock solo project emma bot, hardcore act Shockpoint, Alternative band Stiffneck and many more. Entrance is P250, Pay-what-you-can for students.

January 24, 9 p.m.

Get your monthly rap, hip-hop, and R&B fix at Treskul Records, spinning strictly vinyl sets by Palitorock, a hip-hop DJ, music producer and b-boy dancer, and DJ Arbie Won, a ‘90s hip-hop veteran and Won is also owner of Treskul Records — a hotbed for collectors of physical media, featuring an eclectic selection of old and new records in a wide range of genres, such as new wave, punk, Japanese city pop, and many more. Doors open at 9 p.m.

The Braille Flowers’ New Single

Sari Sari, 5661 Washington St, cor Dela Rosa Street, Makati City
January 26, 6:30 p.m.

Dream-pop act from Parañaque City, The Braille Flowers, will officially launch their single “The Magician Was Shot Dead” alongside other indie-rock bands such as cheeky things, Fairview Far, and Gomper. There will also be a DJ set by Chain Messages. Door charge is P300. 

Manila Popfest 2025: ‘Wishing It Was Sunday’ Vinyl Launch Party

January 26, 4 p.m. 

Manila Popfest 2025 is helping seasoned veterans and dream-pop act Cinema Lumiere launch their vinyl, “Wishing It Was Sunday.” Playing alongside Cinema Lumiere are indie-rock acts Asian Panganay, slowcore act dreaming blue flowers, indie-pop acts Populardays and Soft Pillow Kisses, and many more. 

‘HINDI NA MATUTULOY KITSCH NO.2!’

For only P300, you get to see diverse acts of shoegaze, alternative rock, and a bunch of solo projects debuting at this show such as Scaredthecats, Akemi, Manic Season, Folk Ways, Kalapastangan, and many more.

Round Eye Live

88Fryer, Panay Ave., cor. Timog Ave., Diliman, Quezon City

Hardcore band from Shanghai, China Round Eye has already been in the Philippines for a week but they’re not stopping now — they’re pulling up at one of the most sought-after hardcore-adjacent underground venues today: 88Fryer. Opening for the band are other hardcore mainstays from punk collectives Brigade and Mainland Crew such as Badwave, Repetition, Stable, Hellbent AD, and many more. This show is for the benefit of Hubert “Bob” Lumbania of Grasa Pomade.
